About the Forum

The 2nd Association Exchange Forum is an international gathering of practitioners and experts on Association Agreement (AA) implementation in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. This-year Forum focuses on the progressive agenda for political association and economic integration of three countries with the EU on the basis of the AAs. The discussion stems from analysing the experience of negotiations and subsequent implementation of the Agreements. It is dwell upon reviewing the actual progress, achievements and shortcomings, and relevant expectations of the Associated Trio governments regarding the sector-specific integration in the EU internal market and post-visa free agenda. Also, the instruments of the EU’s involvement and support within the Eastern Partnership and Association Agreements frameworks will be analysed. The 2nd AEF discussions take place in a broader context of policy thinking in various European capitals on the future of the EU, Brexit, EU enlargement in the Balkans and a further development of the European single market, and – last but by far not the least – the upcoming elections in all the three partner countries and in the EU itself.

The Forum is organized by the Civic Synergy Project, funded by the EU and implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation, in partnership with theLithuanian consultancy ESTEP and in cooperation with the Governmental Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.

In 15 minutes, the 2-nd international Association Exchange Forum between Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the EU will start. Among the speakers – key governmental officials responsible for Association Agreements implementation in Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and the EU, national and European MPs, representatives of the European Commission and the EU External Action Service, popular EU think tanks and technical assistance projects.During three days we will discuss a progressive agenda for political association and economic integration of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine with the EU on the basis of the AAs.
