"Europe Without Barriers" NGO

Project period:

15-03-2019 - 01-09-2019

Description of the project

The Association Agreement includes the issues of migration and border protection. That is why the State Migration Policy Strategy of Ukraine until 2025 was developed, which inter alia addresses legal immigration. Still, the visa issue process is complicated, over-bureaucratised, and sometimes non-transparent and needs independent supervision.

This project aimed at creating conditions for a transparent visa policy that would keep on effective supervisory tools. All its deliverables were produced in comparative analytical work on the procedures for granting visas to enter Ukraine, Georgia, and the Schengen Area as well as the feedback from foreigners who had applied for a visa to Ukraine.

The project has helped identify typical problems and difficulties encountered by foreigners due to the visa policy of Ukraine. Distribution of this information and familiarisation with the comparative assessment of the efficiency of the procedures used will allow strengthening public oversight and providing relevant migration authorities with efficient visa-issuing methods that are in line with the norms and requirements of the Association Agreement.
