Report of the Civic Synergy Project for 2017
The ambitious Civic Synergy Project aimed at strengthening participation of the civic society in implementation of the European integration reforms through enhancing activities of two official public platforms: the Ukrainian Side of the EU- Ukraine Civil Society Platform and the Ukrainian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum was launched by the International Renaissance Foundation with financial support of the European Union year a half ago.
During this period the Project organized a workflow of the Platforms’ Secretariats and ensure implementation of its statutory activities as well as to establish contacts with media which publish materials with reference to Project and Platforms in their editions. We established regular meetings with representatives of the executive and legislative authorities responsible for implementation of the European integration policy. Members of the Platforms and its working groups have prepared number of analytical products that were taken into account by Ukrainian and European politicians in a decision-making process. During the preparation of analytical documents, Platforms’ members took part in training and awareness-raising events organized by the Project in order to deepen their knowledge in the European integration area and improve practical skills. Civic Synergy Project created an international expert platform – “Association Exchange Forum” to establish international contacts between participants of the European integration process. This event gathered civic experts and officials from Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the EU in order to discuss common challenges and best practices in implementing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. Also in 2017 Civic Synergy Project supported 27 projects aiming at solving a wide range of issues in the EU-Ukraine relations which were implemented by the Platforms’ member- organizations.
In 2018 we need to do a lot of work together in order to strengthen role of the Platforms as active participants in the European integration process. It is important to continue build trust in the Platforms, including by responding to requests and meeting expectations of official partners from the public authorities and EU institutions. We are aware of all challenges which Ukrainian civil society and, particularly, Platforms are facing nowadays. However, we are confident that can overcome it together in order to achieve common goal – powerful contribution of civil society to implementation of the European reforms.Download report
